This is a surgical procedure that involves transplanting hair from a donor area of your scalp to the areas that are bald or thinning.

The donor site in FUT is typically in the back or sides of the scalp, in which a group of 1 to 4 hairs (or follicular unit) is extracted from a thin donor strip. Once the follicular unit is removed, Dato’ Dr.JasG prepares the graft follicles for permanent implantation with careful and precise microscopic dissection techniques.

Is a SMART FUT Transplant Safe?

A FUT transplant is completely safe when performed by a qualified and experienced surgeon. Despite the procedure requiring great precision and care, for a professional surgeon it is a relatively simple undertaking.

A successful FUT procedure will take the following steps:

• A SMART FUT is usually done when donor area is weak making it not qualified for a SMART FUE. Depending on the donor area, the doctor will decide if one is suitable for a SMART FUT or a SMART FUE.

• After applying an anaesthetic, the doctor will delicately extract a strip of skin from your scalp using a scalpel. This will likely come from the back of your head.
• They will then administer skin clips to this part of the scalp.
• Along with their assistant, they will then separate the scalp strip into smaller grafts which may be broken down into as many as 2,000 smaller follicles.
• They will then create a landing strip in your scalp where hair can be transplanted to.
• These follicles will be placed individually in the affected area of the scalp after the surgeon has made incisions.
• Once the procedure is complete, there are several measures that can be taken to minimise any potential issues during the recovery period.
• To minimise swelling, it’s important to sleep with the head elevated to a 45-degree angle for the first 3-4 nights after surgery.
